The Sips isotherm equation: Often used and sometimes misused

چکیده
The Sips isotherm equation, proposed in 1948, is popularly used to describe the adsorption of a diverse array water contaminants by engineered and natural adsorbents. However, that apparent popularity conceals problematic application issues. Our critique its use contaminant research threefold. First, we show linear version equation promoted several reviews bogus. We also highlight problems associated with two other versions. Second, it inappropriate compare Langmuir–Freundlich equations data correlation. Because are mathematically equivalent, they must provide exactly same fit given set data. Third, argue there little be gained applying type I isotherms, which hyperbolic curves. Such shapes can adequately interpreted simple two-parameter models such as Langmuir Freundlich equations. modeling power more profitably exploited V sigmoid

RESEARCH PAPERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD ARE PUBLISHED IN THOUSANDS OF SCIENCE journals every year. The quality of these papers clearly has to be evaluated, not only to determine their accuracy and contribution to fields of research, but also to help make informed decisions about rewarding scientists with funding and appointments to research positions. One measure often used to determine the qua...
متن کاملIsotherm Equation for Water Vapor Adsorption onto Activated Carbon
A simple isotherm model has been developed for the type-5 equilibrium adsorption systems by considering the effects of both primary and secondary adsorptive sites. The model was applied to interpret experimental data describing water vapor adsorption capacities of four activated carbon adsorbents for relative vapor pressures from 0.0 to 0.95 and temperatures between 288 and 308 K. Good agreemen...
متن کاملStress-induced premature senescence (SIPS)--influence of SIPS on radiotherapy.
Replicative senescence is a fundamental feature in normal human diploid cells and results from dysfunctional telomeres at the Hayflick cell division limit. Ionizing radiation (IR) prematurely induces the same phenotypes as replicative senescence prior to the Hayflick limit. This process is known as stress-induced premature senescence (SIPS). Since the cell cycle is irreversibly arrested in SIPS...
متن کاملWhen Often Becomes Always, and Sometimes Becomes Never: Miscomprehension in Surveys
Much of social science involves soliciting the opinions of others, often through the use of surveys. There are a number of different survey formats but a commonly used approach is to provide a stimulus question which is coupled to a limited number of response options. This approach has several benefits. First, the structured format presents the stimulus to each respondent in the same format, re...
